Groondlings

Pet and People Projects — combining digital technology with hand craftsmanship for comfort, craft, and community.

About

Groondlings began as Pet and People Furniture — modular pet steps, cabinetry, and comfortable seating. As our workshop expanded into upholstery, CNC, laser, and welding, we grew into Pet and People Projects. Today we create comfort-forward builds for pets and people, from functional furniture to creative small-batch designs. Powered by Solyd Solutions and finished by hand.

Product Lines

Pet Steps

Modular Baltic-birch steps with cork pads and optional rare-earth magnets. Designed for stability, accessibility, and repairability.

Column Lamps

Baltic-birch columns with hardwood accents, epoxy-ready, and built for serviceable lighting cores.

Upholstery

Vintage rehabs and new builds using resilient foam, textiles, and webbing. Pattern digitization planned for future open templates.

Cabinetry

Practical, modular cabinetry for small spaces. Jig-driven repeatability with careful material and hardware selection.

Craft and Capability

We rely on digital workflows for precision and hand craftsmanship for finish. At Triumph Workshop in Dallas, we currently produce with a CAMaster Panther CNC, while also preparing to expand with a Shapeoko Pro 5 for in-house production. This combination allows us to balance high-capacity production with flexible, small-batch prototyping and finishing.

Operations are supported by Solyd Solutions for CAD/CAM, toolpaths, and analytics. This integration reduces waste, shortens lead times, and documents processes for training and quality control.

Operations and Impact

Small-Batch Production

Batch sizes tuned to demand. Modular designs enable repair, upgrades, and customization.

Community and Training

Pathways in upholstery, CNC, and laser for local makers. Documentation is accessible and repeatable.

CAMaster and Shapeoko in Tandem

Currently, Groondlings relies on the CAMaster Panther CNC at Triumph Workshop in Dallas to produce furniture and components. At the same time, we are preparing to adopt an in-house Shapeoko Pro 5. Using both machines in tandem allows us to take advantage of industrial-grade reliability at Triumph while also building independent capacity for prototyping, flexible production, and scaling operations.
